A wicker basket bakes an excellent decorative addition to your home or cottage. Not just for "looks" either, these baskets have numerous practical uses too. No home is complete with no unique blend of practicality and charm that can only be offered by wicker baskets.
Wicker baskets have history! Rediscovering the reassurance of thousands of years BC, these baskets were woven from pliable and fibrous plant materials such as oak, ash, willow, cane and reed. Typically the solid or reed woven base was laid down first, then, the vertical staves were added being a support frame. The circumference, or sides, with the basket were then woven within an over-under pattern to complete the basket. Different weave placements or materials might be used to create different patterns or finishes. A lid or handle could then be included if desired.
white wicker baskets - There are lots of uses for a wicker basket; as many uses as there are styles and sizes. They make excellent sheaths for flowers. Often when purchasing a potted plant, the pot may be the least attractive part. Simply placing the complete pot and plant in an appropriately sized wicker basket, will transform it into a work of art. This will bring style and warmth to the deck or patio.
No picnic outing is done without the traditional picnic basket. I'm discussing the large rounded basket with to big loop handle that all of us are familiar with. The basket is exactly what brings the charm to the picnic outing. This basket is exactly what comes to mind when we imagine a romantic picnic for two, spread out upon a white and red checkered blanket, around the block or meadow.
small wicker baskets - Interior ways to use wicker baskets are numerous, and the sky is the limit for which you can come up with. A tiny wicker basket around the bathroom to hold soaps, a big basket on the bathroom floor holding neatly folded bathroom towels. A large basket inside the spare bedroom holding extra blankets and bedding. How about a basket in the corner of the family area holding books and magazines? A fruit basket as the centerpiece for your dining room table... or on the counter, holding spices, condiments or teas.
There's no reason to get sick and tired of these baskets or to run out of uses. These come in all shapes and sizes and may be purchased cheaply at any department or specialty store. If you wish to change the look of your basket, or better match the decor of a particular setting, simply spray paint the basket any color you decide on. The sky is the limit... have fun and enjoy!
