Y'all need to comprehend that we are not and emotional person with regards to books. No, I promise That's not me heartless, I merely don't cry easily. Yes, during books my heart rate accelerates and I'll feel bad for the characters, but I don't actually cry. This really is among the only books where We've come this in close proximity to tears. And thats saying something.

But before I am into all the emotional thing about this book, I wish to first talk about the characters.

Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's the best form of heroine and that i realize that sometimes these learn to blend together but something I love about her is the fact although she could be these items like countless other heroines around, she's not exactly lovable and witty like most others. She's standoffish and also a loner also it takes a very long time for somebody to have right through to her. She's mature beyond her years because she has to get. She was crowned the sole supporter of her family at a real young age and yes it hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this hard exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's right in front of her: the reality that people cherish her. However, although its challenging past her hardened exterior, when you finally do, she actually is a remarkably kind and admirable person. This is especially shown through her actions for the reaping. She cared a great deal for my child family she was ready to risk her life, if you know her chances for coming back home were slim, in order to keep her sister safe. If it is not worth respect, however are not aware of precisely what is.

Peeta can be another great character. He's essentially the complete the complete opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly loves Katniss even when she can't visualize it herself. Even when you avoid getting to find out to much about him because from Katniss' perspective, you can still note that he's got admirable qualities too. Normally I prefer the alpha male and the bad-boy (I reckon that its kinda my weakness) however do also discover the sweet, respectful guys we fell head-over-heels for his heart.

In terms of secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their own personal way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink a little to much, but features a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly really cares about Katniss even though he hardly knows her. Perhaps the other tributes each had their own personalities that made them unique (Don't even get me going on Rue!).

This book was only so incredibly emotional. 24 kids go into an arena and only 1 arrives. I honestly can't even imagine being in their situation. I know i would do whatever it took to survive, so how would that change me? Each tribute was only trying to survive. They didn't want to be there (well, except several), but were required to be. As soon as your facing your immediate death, how would you react? Survival changes people. These different reactions to their situations were shown remarkably well through all the different tributes. Collins' does an incredible jobs of showing how folks would fare in this case. While the many bloodshed in the arena itself is disturbing, probably the most annoying thing personally was the reality that individuals on the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying as well as them it was just entertainment. These were completely oblivious!! It was all simply a game directly to them. As long as these folks were entertained, these were happy. It turned out sick. Completely and utterly sick.

And will, I felt awful to the other tributes, at the same time they made an effort to kill Katniss and Peeta. How will you not? They were thrown in to a situation many weren't ready for and merely looking for home. Although they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right in addition to Katniss. She, too, knows that they were only doing what they have to had to accomplish like she was.

The Hunger Games is often a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is usually a beautiful story full of survival, hope and fighting for what you love.
